St John's College Sydney Uni Residence application now OPEN

St John’s College within the University of Sydney is a co-educational residential college which nurtures the academic achievement and personal wellbeing of every student in its community. In 2017 the College has:

  • 252 residents and 9 non-residents
  • 50 / 50 split of men and women
  • students from every mainland State and Territory in Australia representing more than 40 different nations, including 29 students from New Zealand
  • welcomed first year students who have an average ATAR result of 92.3
  • the largest tutorial program of all the University of Sydney colleges and a resident Academic Dean of Students

Applications are open for 2018 places at St John’s College for both residential and non-residential places. We have been delighted to include students from your school in our College community in the past and welcome applicants from your school for 2018.

Benefits of the St John’s College community include:

·       a “home away from home” on campus

·       academic support, including small-group tutorials

·       the Academic Centre (student spaces and facilities)

·       All meals during semester, including weekends

·       Attendance at Formal Dinner held on Monday evenings

·       Orientation Week program – a four-day program run at the beginning of the first semester. Includes information sessions, social activities within the College and between the inter-college community

·       Membership of the University of Sydney Union and Sydney University Sport and Fitness

·       Scholarship opportunities

The Non-residential program offers non-residential students the option to participate in small-group tutorials and academic programs, access to the St John’s Academic Centre and other communal spaces, and other unique benefits of a collegiate environment including friendships, networks, three meals a day, social clubs and activities.

Due to the number of applications we typically receive in any one year I am writing to underline the advisability of an early application to increase the likelihood of a successful outcome. The College is able to make a conditional offer of a place for 2018 within two to three weeks of receiving an application. The confirmation of this place at the College is conditional upon the student achieving satisfactory end of school results and enrolment at the University of Sydney.
